Tove Jansson’s Summer Book is listed as being one of her ‘adult novels’ – as opposed to her better-known ‘children’s’ books that is. If we must persist in catagorising, then I would suggest a third classification of ‘twixt the two’ (not 'young adult') which to my mind suits this novel admirably.
